Wayne Wood, 91, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home. He was born May 24, 1931 to the late General Allen Wood and the late Alice Thornton Wood. He was a member of Fulton Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since 1957. He entered into the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served on the U.S.S. Yorktown and completed his service aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany as a Commissaryman 2nd class. He was a Korean War Veteran. He married the love of h is life, Morene Franks Wood on March 12, 1955. They were married 66 years until her passing in November of 2021. Always an active worker and mowing yards for the public up until this year at the age of 91. He enjoyed this time of year where he loved to put up his Christmas lights as always. He enjoyed sharing knowledge at Dulaney's Grocery store with all his friends. Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, November 11, 2022, with Bro Michael Hutton officiating. Visitation 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Senter Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery. Survivors include his son, Steve (Lisa) Wood of Fulton; grandsons: Tyler and Brady Wood; sister, Carolyn Underwood of Iuka; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Morene Wood; brothers: Travis Wood, Cratus Wood, Billy Wood, Trammel Wood. Pallbearers will be Deacons and Trustees of Fulton Free Will Baptist Church.
