Obituary For Sheila Pettigo

In Loving Memory of Sheila Ann Johnson Pettigo
September 21, 1959 – May 26, 2025
Sheila Ann Johnson Pettigo, age 65, passed peacefully from this life on Monday, May 26, 2025, at her home in the comforting presence of her loving family. Born on September 21, 1959, to the late John R. Johnson and Bettye Waddle Johnson, Sheila lived a life defined by devotion—to her faith, her family, and her community.

A member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Sheila’s kind heart and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her. She was a cherished member of the Itawamba Homemaker's Club, where she found great joy in fellowship and friendship. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Sheila had a passion for travel and a deep love for gathering with those she held dear. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her family, sharing stories, laughter, and love.

Sheila is survived by her devoted husband, David Pettigo of Fulton; her brothers Ricky (Marie) Johnson and Jason Johnson; great-niece Harleigh (Tyler) Rogers; nephews Austin Johnson, Bret Johnson, Rich (Tori) Johnson, Spencer Johnson, Liam Johnson, Jude Johnson, and Brad (Charity) Pettigo; nieces Kylee Johnson and Tammy (Allan) Culver; sister-in-law Charline (Danny) Webb; and mother-in-law Hildred McCombs.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John and Bettye Johnson.

A service celebrating Sheila’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Senter Funeral Home, with Bro. Lloyd Minor and Bro. Bill Adams officiating. Family and friends are invited to visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. the same day in the funeral home chapel. Sheila will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Austin Johnson, Bret Johnson, Rich Johnson, Brad Pettigo, and Brent Tull.

Sheila’s legacy of kindness, strength, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. The family invites you to share your memories and condolences at www.senterfuneraldirectors.com.

Dale and I won't be able to attend the memorial service today. Please know, David, that we are praying for you and your family. The thing I remember most about Shelia is that she was fun! It was always a pleasure to be around her. Having a friend who is always smiling and laughing is rare these days. Heaven is a little sweeter with Shelia there.
