CHATTANOOGA, TN--Nancy Ellis Poore, 82, of Chattanooga, TN, died Sunday, September 22, 2024. She was born August 20, 1942, the youngest daughter to Thomas Edward Ellis and Neola Benson Ellis in Caledonia, MS. A 1963 graduate of the University of Mississippi, she went on to have a fulfilling career as an educator. She served in several teaching and administrative positions in the public and private school systems of both Memphis and Jackson, TN.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2024, at New Home Baptist Church in Fulton, MS.

Married to the late Robert Arnett Poore, they are survived by two children Penny Poore Franklin (Webster) of Tunica, MS and Robert Benson Poore (Courtney) of Chattanooga, TN and four grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Hope Ellis Kinch of Huntsville, AL and Sidney Ellis Lowrey (Jim) of Fullerton, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, brother Billy Benson Grace of Cummings, GA, and her parents Neola and Tom Ellis of Jackson, MS.
