FULTON--Marcus Wade Umfress Sr., age 81, of New Salem Community passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. He was born August 5, 1942 to the late Myrtle Riley Umfress and late Kelly Ellis Umfress of Tilden. He was the eighth child of ten born to Myrtle and Kell. He was a member of Gideon International and Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Amory. He enjoyed working on his farm, raising cattle, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3:00pm on Friday March 15, 2024, at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Henry Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Friday March 15, at Senter Funeral Home. Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Dianne Wheeler Umfress, son Wade Umfress (Debra), son Chris Umfress (Cindy), one grand-daughter: Shelby Umfress of Tupelo, two grandsons: Trey Umfress (Katie) of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Peyton Umfress of Tupelo; two great-grand children: Elliott Umfress and Jasper Parham.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings and ten half-siblings.
Pallbearers will be Peyton Umfress, Trey Umfress, Ronnie Stanley, Shane Umfress, Jeff Umfress, and Wesley Umfress.
In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Gideons International.
