Obituary For Emilee Ellen Leathers

FULTON-- Emilee Ellen Leathers, 81, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, as a result of an automobile accident. She was born July 4, 1943 at the old Gilmore Hospital in Amory, Mississippi to the late Copeland Clifton and the late Mary Ellen Brook Clifton. She grew up in Waukegan, near Chicago, Illinois and met her husband, Wendell in high school. She graduated Zion-Benton Township High School in 1960. Between the ages of 9 and 16, she studied the violin in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for many years. Emilee and her husband Wendell's two sons were their greatest joy. The trips they took as a young family and their experiences in life gave them many precious memories.
From the age of 5, Emilee attended a Methodist Church becoming a member of the United Methodist Church at the age of 11, and transferring to Fulton United Methodist Church in 1985. Her hobbies included knitting, crochet, basket weaving, sewing, the NFL, the NCAA and beekeeping, the last of which she learned from her father. She loved her cats who lived with her family over the years. She worked as a microbiology lab technician at Abbott Labs, a medical transcriber, and an investment office assistant.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday July 31, 2024, at Senter Funeral Home with Rev. Smith Lillie officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Wednesday July 31, at Senter Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/senterfuneraldirectors.
