Obituary For Edath McDowell
Edath Mavalene Taylor McDowell, 93, went to her Heavenly home Saturday, July 20, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born September 16, 1930 to the late Dewey "Leck" Taylor and the late Edna Tallant Taylor. She was a member of Sherman Baptist Church. She was a 1950 graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School. She began her career as a seamstress with Blue Bell Manufacturing. She married Joseph Aaron McDowell on July 2, 1955. They moved to Kenosha, WI after that with her family and Edath began working at Jockey. They returned to Itawamba County in 1960 and moved to Sherman in 1969 to settle there and joined their Sherman Baptist Church family until her passing. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, fishing, camping, and quilting. She enjoyed cooking especially with all her family and her church family.
Services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday July 24, 2024, at Senter Funeral Directors, with Bro. Mike Brazeal and Bro. Jared Wilson officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at Senter Funeral Directors. Visitation Wednesday will begin at 9:00 am until service time. Burial will be at Sandy Springs Cemetery.
Survivors include her children: Karen (Bobby) Sheffield of Blue Springs, MS, James (Tammy) McDowell of Belmont, Mary Craig of Blue Springs, Jimmy (Candace) McDowell of Saltillo; grandchildren: Erick (Ginger) McDowell, Sheree (Jason) Randolph, Mary Beth (Luis) Matute, Joel Sheffield, Aaron Craig, Katlin (Mark) Stone, Bethany (Justin) Wright, Brooke (Austin) Armstrong, Autumn (Ben) Washington, Mallory (Ejai) Berryman; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters: Nadine (Marion) Waddle, Betty Jean (Leamon) Lindsey, Cathy McCallister; brothers: Leland Royce (Betty) Taylor, James Troyce (Lavelle) Taylor; host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Aaron McDowell; grandson, Will Craig; sister, Laverne Pharr; brothers: Paul Taylor and Elvin Taylor
Pallbearers are Erick McDowell, Joel Sheffield, Luis Matute, Jason Randolph, Justin Wright, Austin Armstrong, Ben Washington, Ejai Berryman, Eli McDowell, Mark Stone
