FULTON-- Earnest Wayne Johnson, 97, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Charleston Place Assisted Living in Fulton. He was born December 1, 1926 to the late Fisher Johnson and the late Nora Thornton Johnson in Itawamba County. He retired from Rockwell Industries after 27 years of service and was a member of Maple Springs Church of God, where he taught Sunday School for 26 years. Earnest married the love of his life, Qunnie Mae Johnson on November 24, 1948, and they were married for 74 years until her passing. He enjoyed fishing, playing the fiddle, making music, and reminiscing about stories from the old days.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Tuesday September 10, 2024, at Senter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Sandy Springs Cemetery. There will be no public funeral service.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Marsha (Brian) Gray of Mooreville; Maretha Johnson of Fulton; Luke (Mikki Steele) Johnson of Fulton; and Hannah Johnson (Mack) Beane of Golden; great grandchildren, Brennan Gray; Abby Gray; Annabelle Gray; Jack Beane and Nora Beane.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Qunnie Mae Johnson; son, Jackie Wayne Johnson; and his parents, Fisher and Nora Johnson.
