Donna Shumpert Ballard, 66 passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

She was born on January 11, 1958 to her loving parents, Catherine Shumpert and the late ONeil Shumpert.

As a young girl, Donna was a member of the award winning gospel group, Junior Misses. Her talents extended to playing the piano, writing poetry and even playing the accordion.

She graduated from Itawamba Community College and started a 38 year Respiratory Therapy career caring for others in Memphis, New Orleans, Jackson and Tupelo. She ended her career at Baldwyn Nursing Facility sharing her light and kindness to those in her care at the end of their lives.

Donna was a bright light in this world who loved all God’s creations. She was kind, loving, talented and beautiful inside and out. She shared her light willingly and with her whole heart.

She is survived by her beloved mother, Catherine Shumpert, her husband, James Allen Ballard JR, her daughter, Shala Ballard Inskeep (John), her son. TSgt Joshua Eric Ballard, USAF (Ret.)(Margaret), her granddaughters, Destiny Flowers (Trey), Haleigh Ballard and Jordan Wesley.

Donna is also survived by her loving sisters and brother, Cathy Mattox (Adrian), Beth Mann (Johnny), Emily Elmore (Thomas) and Michael Shumpert ( Christie) and all of her nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved father, Oneil Shumpert and brothers in law, Ed Ballard and Michael Ballard.

A time of remembrance in celebrating the life of Donna Ballard will be from 12:00-2:00 Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Parlor rooms of Senter Funeral Home.
