Deanna always had a smile to share and an infectious laugh. She was my "upbeat" CIT (Counselor-In-Training). If there were shenanigans - she was more than likely the ringleader. One of her favorite pranks was to rubber band the sprayer in the sink so when I turned on the water, I got soaked. I got soaked a lot during her years as a CIT. When she was a 2nd year CIT, I enlisted the help from the 1st year CITs and we put her in the horse trough that was filled with water. I think she and I ended up tied for the "who can soak the other the most" trophy. It was special for me to watch Deanna learn and grow. She was always on the move and didn't shy away from a challenge. She loved working with the horses. She challenged campers to build on their skills and become more confidant riders. Deanna definitely earned her camp name, Rip. She ripped her jeans pretty much on a daily basis. No matter how many rips there were in her jeans, Deanna always found room for one more rip. We were amazed that she always found room for one more rip! Rip will always have a special place in my heart. She brought love, life and laughter together in a way that only she could do. I will always be grateful for the time we spent at camp. "Trotter" Linnea Jonson

I am so very sorry to hear of Deanna's passing. I knew her best as "Rip" and shared a couple of summers with her at Camp Tik-A-Witha. She was always at the barn and loved working with the horses! She was funny and fun to be around. When I was a camper and she was a counselor (with just a few years between us, really) I always tried to sit at her table in the dining hall because I knew she would be "up to something." She was one of those camp staff people who made camp fun! I did become a camp counselor myself and eventually camp director, and I still work for the local Girl Scout council - for the past 30 years. The family is in our thoughts and prayers. With much love, "Shine"

I loved my softball days wuth Deanna! I always knew she was there for me and to give me a little encouragement. Even though I haven't been close to her in years, the last time I saw her she treated me like we never missed a beat. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family. Darla Adams

Deanna was a wonderful friend and co-worker to me. She helped me a-lot at the Head Start with different things and situations. She will be greatly missed. I'll continue to pray for the family during this difficult time and healing process. I love you Deanna!

Deanna was such a loving woman. Much like her mother in law, she didn't know what a stepchild was. They were just her children. Family was everything to her. Between the 2 ladies, I was able to see that kind of love. It might have been a year or 2 in between when I saw her but I always got a big hug. I will truly miss that hug when I get to travel to Mississippi to see my Houston family. I am heartbroken that I can't travel to be there right now. Robin will be there soon. Prayers to Richard, all of the kids, and Deanna's family. She is next to her mother and father again with our Lord Jesus now and I look forward to that big hug again when my time comes too.

Deanna was a precious lady and I always enjoyed being with her at family gatherings. She did love her family and was proud of each one of them. Deanna will be missed. My thoughts today were, she is filling Aunt Dean and Uncle Joe in on everything that has happened she they left us. I love this family and will be praying for peace in the days ahead! ❤️
