Obituary For Cheryl Dean Bowen
In Loving Memory of Cheryl Bowen
January 5, 1962 – April 21, 2025
Cheryl Bowen, 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on January 5, 1962, to the late Adoyal and Ava Neal Taylor, Cheryl lived a life centered around faith, family, and unwavering love.
A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Cheryl had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom—a role she cherished deeply. That devotion only grew stronger when she became a grandmother, a role she proudly embraced as “Nana.” It was a title she held closest to her heart. Whether cheering on her grandson Bentley at the baseball field, sharing stories and laughter with her grandkids, or simply being present in their lives, Nana’s love was felt in every moment.
Her life was rich with simple joys: beach trips with her beloved sisters, spirited Friday nights rooting for the IAHS football team, and Sundays filled with excitement for her favorite teams—Mississippi State, the Dallas Cowboys, and her favorite NASCAR drivers. Her spirit was as vibrant as her smile, and her presence lit up every room she entered.
A woman of Christian faith, Cheryl lived with kindness, humility, and a servant's heart. Her legacy lives on through her children—Britni (Chet) White, Lauren (Adam) Whitehead, Lindsay (Taylor) Phillips, and Matt Bowen—and her treasured grandchildren: Bentley White, Jaxson Phillips, Amber Whitehead, Avery White, and Mia Phillips. She is also survived by her loving sisters: Linda (Tom) Hamilton, Kim (David) Hankins, Traci Carnathan (Greg Howington), and Emily Garrett (Donald Wayne Morse), as well as dear friends David (Diane) Reese and Brenda (Danny) Stout, brother-in-law James Bowen, and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Bowen; her parents, Adoyal and Ava Neal Taylor; and her son, Brandon Robinson.
Pallbearers will be Chet White, Taylor Phillips, Adam Whitehead, Tom Hamilton, Preston Hamilton, Donald Wayne Morse, Greg Howington, and David Hankins. Honorary pallbearers include David Reese, Anthony Ramirez, William Wayne Taylor, and Bentley White.
Services will be held at Senter Funeral Home. Visitation is Wednesday, April 23, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 24, at 5:00 PM with Minister Tom House officiating. Cheryl will be laid to rest at Itawamba Memorial Gardens.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.
