Betty Jean Coker Thornton, 86, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born September 13, 1931 to the late Homer Coker and the late Luna Castleberry Coker in Itawamba County. Betty graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School in 1949. Betty married the love of her life, Vadrel Thornton and then attended and graduated from the Joliet School of Cosmetology. She was the owner and operator of MarKay Beauty Salon for many years. She and her husband, Vadrel began their own business in Fulton, Thornton Seat Covers where she continued to work with her grandsons until her illness. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fulton. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and making clothes for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. .
Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday August 16, 2018 at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Jackie Gray officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday August 16, 2018 at Senter Funeral Home.

She is survived by 3 Daughters, Debra Thronton Ramey, Diane (Glen) Davis, and Donna Thornton, all of Fulton, Grandchildren, Lee (Kim) Ramey, Chase Ramey, Carol Ann (Matthew) Fortune, Anna Thronton, and Sasha Thornton, great grandchildren, Taylor Ramey, Reed Ramey, and Ellie Fortune, 3 Sisters, Billie Kaye, Rubene Spencer, Clara Brown, 2 Brothers, Hubert (Carol) Coker, and Don (Arweeda) Coker, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Vadrel Thornton, her parents, Son, Harold Thornton, Brothers, L.C. Coker, Charlie Coker, Dewayne Coker, and Wayne Coker.
Pallbearers will be her Nephews.
